I decided to take my good friend and colleague Mr. A. Hart to the waterfront park this past weekend for the fair. His face paint job landed him a spot on the local news station.

In other news, Barry’s still somewhere in South America. I heard rumors his return might be sometime this year. As for Mario, he decided to catch a flight over to China for the Olympics and attempted to give Mr. Phelps a run for his money.

Maybe next time, buddy…..

We took some Gato Negro Beanies into the field the other day for extensive testing. The official results have yet to be compiled, consolidated, calculated, and krunched but initial reports indicate a stoked level around 10/10. Say what you want, but these folks look darn happy.

Travelling northward from Santiago brought me to one of the world´s most amazing cities; Macchu Picchu. It took a measely 2 weeks of overnight bus trips, countless empanadas con queso, a few cervesa´s, and some questionable hostels to arrive in the Incan city of Cusco, Peru. A few things about Cusco:

It´s bloody high. 3300 meters above sea level (That´s about 10 000 feet).
The bars close at 6am, well after the sun has decided to wake up again.
Gringo Alley draws all the ´drug´dealers who solicit you with refined marketing tactics by mentioning such words as ¨Weed¨, ¨Cocaine¨, ¨Joints¨, etc. Genious.

More about Cusco later. I booked a tour to the infamous Machu Picchu for 4 days. Cool, right? Of course, except I still wonder how I graduated college. The tour went through a Peruvian jungle which means bugs. Lot´s of ém. My pasty white Seattle tan was a mosquito magnet and I didn´t bring repellent. Awesome. Let´s not forget my I failed to pack a rain jacket. Our second day of hiking started with heavy rain and yours truly had to pick up a bright orange garbage bag in an attempt to stay somewhat dry. Least we not forgot my lack of insect repellent. My ankles became a festering minefield of those damn mosquite bites and the swelling gave me a classic case of cankles.

Don´t take my lack of prepardness as a bad omen for the final stretch to Machu Picchu. I actually remembered to charge my camera battery the night before. Our wake up call was at 4am for the 1.5 hour hike to the infamous city. Pictures were taken, videos were recorded, and Inca Kola was slammed in excessive quantities. When all was said and done, I managed to get a few decent pictures.

After Machu Picchu, we made our way back to Cusco for a few nights of rest.

Next up is Lago Titticaca….

Iquique to Peru

I spent a few days in Iquique, Chile. A rad little beach town in the Norte with everything you need for fun, such as homeless old ladies harassing you for your leftovers at a resturant and crazy Chilean dance clubs open past 4am. On a serious note, though, these Chileanos are obsessed with the mullet. Their arsenal includes everything from the dreaded-mohawk-mullet to the vintage skullet (bald-mullet). I´m tempted to try and fit in.

Anyhoo, I paired up with Ruth from Germany and Sam from Australia to visit a ghost town called Humberstone. T´was a legit ghost town too. No one was there, it was bloody windy and I reminised about the Blair Witch Project. Good times….

Up next is Machu Picchu.

Still kicking around Santiago these days, just TBC (That´s Takin´Care o´ Business), na mean? Went on a hike up San Cristobal hill in the middle of Santiago. I heard tomorrow is Mothers Day. Remember to give your best friend´s mother a big ol´kiss.
